At our architecture firm, we take great pride in our approach to renovating and preserving old buildings, as we believe that they represent an essential part of our collective memory and heritage. The traditional house in Amchit, Lebanon, is a prime example of how we commemorate the past while creating the foundation for new memories.

Our team focused on the core section of the house, aiming to showcase the contrast between traditional and contemporary styles. By incorporating modern stairs in the middle and creating a void with vertical circulation, we were able to spread natural light to the bottom floor, which used to be a dim basement but is now a fully habitable space.

As you walk through the house, you will notice the use of sustainable materials like wood and stone, along with elements tailored to meet the clients’ needs. The soft linear motifs create a sense of continuity throughout the rooms. The master bedroom leading to the garden boasts a rustic and natural feel, while the living room features a delicate oriental seating style that is both welcoming and modern.

At our firm, we take a holistic approach to our designs, taking into account the building’s history, its current state, and its potential for the future. Our goal is to create a marriage between contemporary and traditional styles that respects the building’s past while embracing the present and looking forward to the future.

We believe that preserving old buildings is a vital part of our responsibility to our communities and future generations. By transforming old spaces with minimal touch into functioning areas that tell their own stories, we are proud to play a small but significant role in this endeavor.

Completed in 2021, the traditional house in Amchit stands as a testament to our commitment to preserving the past while creating a bright future.
